Columbia Women Inventors Network
The Columbia Women Inventors Network (Columbia WIN) is dedicated to engaging, encouraging, and empowering women inventors from Columbia’s research labs. By bringing together research faculty, students and staff from across Columbia’s campuses and schools, Columbia WIN aims to increase the number of women inventors bringing their scientific breakthroughs from the lab to the market via licenses or startups. Columbia WIN is intended to be a networking and educational resource to engage on a variety of topics related to translational research and technology commercialization.
In November 2016, Columbia WIN hosted "Scientists and Entrepreneurs: From Here to There". In this video, Nina Tandon (Columbia), CEO and co-founder of EpiBone, and Hemai Parthasarathy, Scientific Director of Breakout Labs and the Thiel Foundation (and investor in Epibone) discuss the current state of biotech investing, their lessons on life science entrepreneurship, and advice for those looking to launch their own companies in this space
