WIB-Metro New York Presents: Female Leadership in Science
Join Women In Biotech on May 30, to learn from Dr. Leslie B. Vosshall and Shruti Naik, two accomplished women leaders, about what led them to science, the particular areas of research they are working in, and an overview of their current work. They will also discuss the specific challenges they have faced as women in science and how they’ve overcome these challenges including; obtaining funding, career progression, mentorship, gaining visibility through publications, and their views on the outlook for women in science.
Light food and beverages will be served.
Dr. Leslie B Vosshall, Ph.D. (Robin Chemers Neustein Professor, Head of the Laboratory of Neurogenetics and Behavior, and Director of the Kavli Neural Systems Institute at The Rockefeller University). Leslie is a molecular neurobiologist known for her work on the genetic basis of chemosensory behavior in both insects and humans. She is an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
Shruti Naik, Ph.D. (Damon Runyon Cancer Research Fellow in the Laboratory of Mammalian Cell Biology and Development at the Rockefeller University). Shruti is studying the interactions between immune cells and stem cells in an effort to develop stem cell based therapies for disorders such as psoriasis, chronic wounds, and cancer. She has received numerous accolades including the Regeneron Award for Creative Innovation and L’Oréal For Women in Science Fellowship.
