Peter Mundel

Peter Mundel is a physician-scientist, transformational company builder and experienced biotechnology leader, with more than 25+ years in translational research and all aspects of company building, target ID, drug discovery and early clinical development. He has broad indication and technology background in obesity, metabolic, neurodegenerative, cardiovascular and kidney diseases. His strengths are his scientific creativity and his ability to evaluate and advance pioneering ideas from inception to full realization, with the highest level of scientific rigor – always keeping patients at the center of his vision. In 2015, after a successful 20-year career in academia, Peter left the Harvard faculty to join Third Rock Ventures with the goal to build Goldfinch Bio from initial concept in his own laboratory to a kidney disease platform that generated a successful Phase 2 asset. After Goldfinch, Peter joined Atlas Venture to build a stealth NewCo focused on toxic proteinopathies in the kidney, eye and liver as Co-Founder, Board Member and Founding CEO/CSO. Working in VC, Peter has broad experience evaluating inbound drug discovery programs in metabolism/obesity, aging, gene therapy and kidney diseases. His north star is to develop the next generation of therapies in diverse therapeutic areas, including obesity, metabolism, neurodegeneration, kidney and cardiovascular diseases.
